Pavé Band 0.20 ct Total — Lab-grown, 18ct goldLab-grown diamond

Both origins of this design are photographed from the same frame with the same lighting, so the photograph is not doing any of the arguing.

Switching origin changes the price and the issuing laboratory. Nothing else about the ring changes.

A close-set line of very small brilliants held by raised beads. 0.20 ct is the total weight of all the stones together. Pavé is the most delicate setting in the range and needs the shortest inspection interval — that is stated here rather than left to be discovered.

The stone

OriginLab-grown diamond
Total carat weight0.20 ctThis is the weight of every stone added together. It is not the size of any single stone.

No stone in this piece reaches 0.30 ct, so no independent report is issued for it and no colour, clarity or cut grade is quoted. Quoting grades without a report behind them would mean nothing.

How the stones are held

SettingPavé

Pavé stones are held by small beads of metal raised from the surface. It gives a continuous line of light, but the beads are small and individual stones can work loose over the years. Have the setting checked every 12 months.

Sizing and resizing

ResizingLimited, plus or minus 1 size

The stones run most of the way around the band, leaving very little plain metal to work with.

We do not claim that any ring is guaranteed to fit. Measure in the afternoon and measure more than once. UK sizes in millimetres

Skin contact

Nickel-safe: nickel release is tested to UK REACH limits of 0.5 micrograms per square centimetre per week for items in prolonged contact with the skin. Lead and cadmium are within the limits set by the same regulation.

We do not describe any item as hypoallergenic. That word is not a permitted description and would tell you nothing measurable.

Living with it

Take the ring off for the gym, gardening, swimming and household cleaning. Warm water, a drop of washing-up liquid and a soft brush is enough. Keep it away from bleach and chlorine. Avoid hand creams building up under the beads; they trap grit which is what works small stones loose.

Have the setting checked every twelve to eighteen months. No setting holds a stone permanently and we do not tell you otherwise.

Natural and lab-grown compared

Side by sidePavé Band 0.20 ct TotalA natural diamond and a laboratory-grown diamond are the same material: the same chemistry, the same hardness, the same optical behaviour. They differ in how they formed and in what the market charges for them. Both are shown here with the same specifications and the same photograph, and this shop takes no position on which you should choose.
